Snowy Day in Park Rapids

We got our "annual" March snowstorm on Tuesday and what a storm it was. Schools were closed around the region and with 8 -12 inches of snow, it stopped most traffic for a while. The sun came out late Wednesday afternoon though, and most roads were clearing off nicely. Let's hope this is the last of the snow for this season.
C'mon Springtime!!!

Life's a Beach Party

We are hosting the "Life's a Beach Party" March 5 at North Point Lodge. Should be loads of fun and great way to welcome spring to the area. The snowmobile trails are still being groomed and riding is great, but soon we'll be watching that snow melt and spring will have sprung! I for one, can't wait!

Soon we will be welcoming our out of town guests to the area, so if you have some favorite places for them to visit, please post it here! One of MY favorite places is The Tin Ceiling on Main St. They have treasures like you wouldn't believe. Little snippets of the past, from books to jewelry to kitchen ware. It's so much fun to see what you can find! Another favorite place is RiverBend Home Expressions. From the minute you walk in the door you feel at home. From gourmet foods and cookware, to children's clothes and wine accessories. It's the perfect place to browse and buy!

C'mon! Tell us about YOUR favorite places!

March 2 Trail Report

Forest Riders Trail Report
Wednesday, March 2, 2011

After talking to several snowmobilers, the report is the trails are still in great condition.  Groomers were out this week and concur with the snowmobilers.  The new snow received last week along with perfect temperatures helped protect the trails.  The forecast indicates temperatures will be in the teens and 20's through the week with a chance of snow on Thursday!  Let it snow!

The Forest Riders trail system is comprised of many miles of trails through public and private land.  Private landowners have generously granted access to their land.  With the permission of the landowners, the Forest Riders Snowmobile Club has established and maintained a terrific trail system.  Unfortunately, there have been reports of snowmobilers riding off the trail on personal property.  Please be respectful of the landowners and stay on the designated trails.  It is important to the future of the trail system.

Enjoy the trails and drive safely on areas where the snow has been diminished!  Check back for more updates next week!
